Switch from JobNimbus
Switching from JobNimbus to JobStack: a step-by-step guide.
You've decided to move off JobNimbus. This guide walks through what to export, how to clean it up, how to import into JobStack, and how to run both in parallel so you don't get stranded.
Why operators leave JobNimbus
- Your work isn't primarily roofing or insurance claims. JobNimbus is optimized for the roofing workflow. For adjacent trades or operators with mixed work, most of the depth is overhead.
- Cost was sized for roofing margins. Roofing jobs have high per-ticket revenue. Service work doesn't have the same margins to absorb $300+/mo software.
- Wanted AI for daily customer communication. Auto-respond to inbound, voice-to-estimate, automated follow-ups — features JobNimbus hasn't shipped at the same pace as AI-native competitors.
- Wanted faster, simpler workflow. JobNimbus assumes multi-step roofing production cycles. For shorter-cycle work, that's ceremony you don't need.
What carries over, what changes
Carries over
- Customer / contact list
- Basic job history (with manual cleanup)
- Open and historical invoices
- Payment records
- Contact notes
Needs setup or rethinking
- Insurance claim and supplement records (download what you need)
- Production pipeline phases
- Aerial measurement integrations (EagleView etc.)
- Photo libraries by job (download before canceling)
- Custom fields specific to roofing (roof type, pitch, square footage)
- Material orders and supplier integrations
The migration, step by step
- 1
Export customer and invoice data
From JobNimbus, pull CSVs for Contacts, Jobs (basic), Invoices, Payments. Insurance and production-specific records may need separate handling.
- 2
Download photo libraries
Job photos in JobNimbus don't migrate. Batch-download anything you need for warranty, reference, or future marketing before cancellation.
- 3
Handle open insurance claims
Don't migrate active claims. Close them out in JobNimbus, then move forward in JobStack for non-claim work. Open claims need the JobNimbus workflow.
- 4
Import into JobStack
Upload customer and invoice CSVs. The importer handles standard field mapping; you'll resolve ambiguities inline.
- 5
Reconnect Stripe, QuickBooks, calendar
Standard JobStack integrations, each under 2 minutes.
- 6
Build pricing templates
Convert your common service offerings into JobStack line item templates. 20–30 templates covers most jobs.
- 7
Parallel run for a week
JobNimbus stays accessible for reference and active claims; JobStack handles new non-claim work.
- 8
Cancel and archive
Final exports including photo libraries. Cancel after parallel period and any open claims have closed.
Common gotchas
-
Insurance claim records don't migrate. Download anything you need to retain for compliance.
-
Photo libraries need manual bulk download — they're often the most valuable historical data and don't transfer.
-
Production pipeline data doesn't map; JobStack doesn't have multi-step production phases.
-
Custom fields tied to roofing (roof type, pitch, square footage) won't have JobStack equivalents — track in notes or skip.
-
EagleView / Hover integrations aren't available in JobStack.
Realistic timeline
- Day 1 Export data, download photo libraries, plan handling of active claims.
- Day 2 Import to JobStack, set up integrations, build pricing templates.
- Day 3–7 Parallel run; JobStack handles new non-claim work, JobNimbus for active claims.
- Day 8+ Cancel JobNimbus once open claims close, archive exports.
